Dr. Louise O’Donnell
Licensed Psychologist, Pediatric Neuropsychologist
I am deeply committed to providing thorough, compassionate neurodiagnostic assessments. With a lifetime of experience in clinical psychology, teaching, and research, my approach is rooted in both professional rigor and a genuine desire to support each individual and family I work with.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I earned my Ph.D. in School Psychology with a focus on child neuropsychology and clinical psychology from the University of Texas in Austin. My academic journey also includes a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, as well as an internship in Clinical Psychology with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center. This strong educational foundation has shaped my comprehensive approach to neurodiagnostic testing.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Over three-plus decades as a pediatric neuropsychologist most recently at the ADHD Clinic of San Antonio and previously as an associate professor at UT Health, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of patients and professionals. I focused on providing detailed neuropsychological assessments for children with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, learning disabilities, language disorders, and emotional and behavioral concerns.
My work involved assessing children with various developmental challenges, including intellectual impairments, autism spectrum disorders, and children recovering from medical treatments such as cancer therapies. I developed a specialized expertise in assessing autism spectrum disorders, collaborating on public education efforts like the Asperger’s 101 Program and continuing education initiatives for law enforcement.
I designed and oversaw the UT Health neuropsychological assessment program for children and families with Chromosome Disorders.
TEST DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT EXPERTISE
I also have significant experience in test design through my work with a leading psychological test publisher. For over eleven years, I led teams and managed research efforts to develop intellectual, academic, behavioral, developmental, and memory assessment tools for psychologists. Because of my in-depth knowledge of assessment tools, I know which tests are optimal for specific assessment concerns.
We take pride in helping you navigate the complexities of neurodiagnostic assessments with confidence and compassion.
